The Qualify project organized a workshop on composite-steel hybrid adhesive bonded joints in a maritime environment in Rotterdam, on 18th of June , hosted by the RDM.

Qualify project meeting in Nantes

The Qualify project meeting was held in Nantes on 21-22 of May, held by BV. The progress and future actions were reported. Observers, especially from France, joined the meeting, giving valuable feedback. Participants had the opportunity to visit the IRT Jule Vernes composites lab.

Interreg2Seas midterm review - Ghent

The QUALIFY project participated at the Interreg2Seas midterm review event in Ghent, on 25 and 26 of April.   The main focus of this event is to showcase the 2 Seas cross-border project achievements that were delivered to date.

Upcoming: Workshop on composite-steel hybrid adhesive bonded joints in a maritime environment

The M2i and RDM will organize a workshop on June 18th in Rotterdam on  ‘Composite-steel hybrid adhesive bonded joints in a marine environment’’.  Organizations, academics, and students interested in this topic are welcome to attend.

QUALIFY project presented at the M2i conference in Noordwijkerhout

QUALIFY was featured at the M2i conference Meeting Materials 2018. The program consisted of interesting workshops and presentations and of course a lot of opportunities to expand our network. Over 300 participants, representatives from SME’s, to renowned industrial manufacturing companies, international universities and research institutes visited us this year. The Qualify booth (with banner, posters and takeaway leaflets) was manned by M2I, was well attended. Questions regarding the project were answered to a very interested audience, and possible collaboration links were made.

Seminar on Structural Integrity of Metal Structures

The QUALIFY project was presented by Dr. Jesus Mediavilla Varas (M2I, and Qualify project lead) at the 2018 3rd International Conference on Advanced Materials Research and Manufacturing Technologies in Shanghai, China, from August 11 to 13, 2018.The conference is organized by the by Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers (HKSME), AMRMT 2018 aim to present the latest research and results of scientists related to Advanced Materials Research and Manufacturing Technologies and other topics. 

The QUALIFY project was presented during a poster session by prof. dr. ir. Wim De Waele (Ghent University, Belgium) at the 2018 3rd Seminar on “Structural Integrity of Metal Structures” in Gent, Belgium, on May 24th, 2018. The seminar is organized by the partners of Metal Structures Centre (OCAS, Belgian Welding Institute, Ghent University). These seminars revealed strong interest and an interactive participation from different sectors, ranging from the oil & gas and petrochemical sectors, as well as maritime sector, offshore wind, infrastructure and pressure vessel markets.

QUALIFY project was featured at FIBRESHIP workshop on 14 July 2018 in London

The First public FIBRESHIP workshop was hosted organised by Lloyd’s Register in London with representatives from the FIBRESHIP project Advisory Board, Industry experts, IMO, MCA, co‐coordinators and representatives from EU RAMSSES, Interreg2Seas QUALIFY and E‐Lass projects. The main aims of this workshop were: to communicate and enlighten each other about the project objectives and work progress; Identify possible technical areas of collaboration; facilitate possible exchange of technical information: identify further common dissemination activities.

 

First meeting of the QUALIFY consortium

The project partners held their first meeting on the 2nd  and 3rd October 2017, at DAMEN Shipyards in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. The planning of the activities was discussed in detail, and further discussions were planned with the participation of industrial players and classification societies in the consortium, to define the most suitable configuration to be tested in the project.
